WELCOME to my Hudnall Family Memories Blog. I hope to hear from you often and encourage you to join in the "conversations" as I wander through the process of "finding" and learning about the lives of my Ohio Hudnalls, their ancestors, explorers, pioneers.

My purpose is to  create a picture of what life was like in southern Ohio for those pioneers who came across the mountains after the Revolutionary War,many of whom  had been awarded land  grants as payment for their services during the war of independence (ref. Ohio Land Company and Northwest Ordinance of 1787) exploring and settling land in the Ohio Territory.

Hopefully, if you are reading this, you will ask a question or add a bit of information about the Hudnalls of Alexander Township, near Albany in Athens County Ohio.

When you view the slideshow and read "An Ohio Adventure," I hope that you will be as thrilled as I am to see history in progress. Please share your stories and information from family treasures that you may have received. Let's create an informational photostory together.

I ran across your site by accident and was thrilled. It took me back in time. It is beautiful and artfully done. My gr-gr grandmother was Rachel Ellen Hudnall born abt 1830/1831 in Athens Township. Beings it is so late and I have an early apt in the morning I will for sure again visit tomorrow and add more. You have brought me even closer to my Hudnalls. Thank you.

So happy that you contacted me, although I just now checked the site. Sorry. I don't know the name, Rachel Ellen Hudnall; but would love to learn more about your family. This past October, 2018, I visited the old Hudnall farm (now owned by others) at 100 Cherry Ridge Rd., and its old Hudnall cemetery...Joseph, wife Lucy, daughter; Rosa Bolin; Nathan Hudnall. Many of the tombstones have embedded in the earth or have probably fallen down the hill. Hope you see this sometime.

I descend from Joseph Hudnall and Mary Withers. Their son Joseph Hudnall married Mary Ann Taylor (5th gr grandparents.) Joseoh and Mary Ann's son Joseph Hudnall married Nellie Taylor (4th gr grandparents) Joseph and Nellie's had one son to my knowledge who was Richard Hudnall. Richard married Nancy Gibson (3rd gr grandparents). Richard Perry Hudnall would be my 3rd cousin 3x removed. Nice to meet you.

I'm going through my parents' things now and my mom has two things your grandmother Freta Swartz painted - a painting of flowers on canvas and a painting of a lighthouse on slate. One of my sisters said that Mom knew your grandmother in Columbus, but I'm curious how she knew her. My parents were involved in square dancing and Mom worked at a doctor's office. Is it possible she knew Freta through one of those connections?

At some point in the future I probably will be getting rid of the painting, unless one of my other relatives wants it. If no one wants it, do you?

Since this is a very old posting, I don't know if you will see this. Oh well.

Thanks

Yvonne,
Just saw this, 5 years later....My Grandma Freta Swartz, lived on Highland St. in Columbus. I remember a little girl and her mother who knew her. But ... maybe you are Mark Bruce's daughter, my Aunt Mary Lou's son, Mark.
